Democrats in Rock Island County Work to Get Voters to the Polls

Doug House

Volunteers from the Rock Island County Democratic Party are knocking on doors and making calls to encourage people to vote for their candidates tomorrow.

Doug House, Central Committee Chair, says the party's county ticket is diverse and includes nine women.

Democrats hold a majority on the Rock Island County Board, and their decisions about Hope Creek nursing home and the courthouse have been controversial topics.

He says balancing the county's budget is "exceptionally difficult" in part because it's not a "home rule" government.

Democrat Gregg Johnson is challenging incumbent Illinois State Senator Neil Anderson. And House says it's one of the most important races across the state.

Last week, WVIK News talked with the Chair of the Rock Island County Republicans, Drue Mielke, and that story is HERE.
