As the pandemic continues, the University of Dubuque announced that performances in the Heritage Center will be delayed until at least January.
In place of live shows, there will be live streams over Facebook. This month's performance will star Neil Berg and Rita Harvey on July 20. Harvey is a Dubuque native and Broadway actress, most famous for playing Christine in Phantom of the Opera.
Heritage Center's Executive Director, Thomas Robin, says he will host the event like a talk show.
"I kind of fancy myself as a... modern-day David Letterman. So, I'll do some interviewing of Neil and Rita, and they'll actually both perform some music as well."
While there won't be any live performances this fall, Butler Hall will be open for the installation of a custom $2.4 million pipe organ.
When live performances resume next year, Robin says the Heritage Center will ensure audience and actor safety with socially-distant seating and routine disinfecting. He estimates that will limit capacity of the auditorium from 1,000 to under 350.
The 2020-2021 season will be announced later this fall.
