A graduate of Augustana College will deliver the commencement address next month. Monday the college announced Doctor Al Bowman will speak to the newest graduates on May 21st at the iWireless Center.
A member of the class of 1975, Bowman earned a masters degree in speech-language pathology, and a doctorate in speech and hearing science.
He joined the faculty at Illinois State University in 1978, and after serving as department chair and provost, was named president in 2003. Bowman led the university until his retirement in 2012.
Another Augustana alumnus will deliver the sermon for the baccalaureate service - Paul Bailie graduated in 2004, and is now pastor at a church in Eagle Pass, Texas.
