Augustana Football Ready to Start Season

The wait will soon be over for Augustana Vikings football fans, as Augie's season begins on September 7th at home against Coe College.

Head Coach Steve Bell says his team is hungry to win.

"They have goals that they've set as a group, and this senior class is our first full recruiting class. So, these kids have seen the good, the bad, and the ugly. They're tired of being average to below average, you know what I mean? They're a very motivated group and a very tight-knit group."

Fifth-Year Senior Quarterback Zach Fuller is back for his final year of eligibility at Augustana. He's thrilled with his receivers.

"Oh, I feel so confident. That was a big reason I came back for a fifth year. That and the [offensive] line having so much experience, I knew I could count on them in tougher times. I've been so close with this group."

Last year, the Vikings finished the season with a 4-6 record. This year, Augustana will play their first two weeks at home against Coe and Elmhurst, before heading on the road to play Illinois Wesleyan in Bloomington.
