Airport Traffic Continues to Rise

Quad City International Airport
airport traffic rising after falling to its lowest point in April

Based on one indicator, the economy is improving despite the pandemic. Figures released by the Quad City International Airport show traffic in June was more than double the previous month, and several times higher than April.

During June, 14,400 people traveled through the airport, compared to 7,000 in May, and just 2,700 in April.
While traffic is down 78 per cent from the same month a year ago, it's been rising steadily since April.

An airport spokeswoman says the local recovery is in line with national trends - fewer flights were canceled in June and flight schedules for the coming months show the airlines are predicting growing passenger demand.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
