Summer in the Quad Cities: Events That Bring Us Together

Welcome to this week’s episode of "What's Happening QC," your go-to podcast for everything exciting in the Quad Cities! Brought to you by Seifert Building Supplies, we're here to keep you in the loop about the vibrant community events that are just around the corner. As summer heats up, we’re thrilled to spotlight three incredible happenings that are sure to engage, entertain, and unite our community.

First up is the legendary Quad City Times Bix 7, an iconic annual race that celebrates its 51st running this year on July 26. This seven-mile journey through the heart of downtown Davenport welcomes elite athletes and enthusiastic community runners alike. Whether you’re looking to challenge yourself on the Brady Street Hill or enjoy the exhilarating post-race festivities, the Bix 7 has something for everyone. Plus, don't miss out on the additional activities like virtual and youth races, the Brady Street Sprints, and the vibrant street parties leading up to the main event.

Next, we’ll dive into the fun of Floatzilla, a unique paddle event that brings together kayakers, canoers, and floaty enthusiasts for two adventurous days on the Mississippi River. Join us for a challenging nine-mile paddle from lock and dam 14 to lock and dam 15, alongside a kayak fishing tournament and a host of post-float activities, including live music and volunteer opportunities. Even if you can’t paddle this year, there are plenty of ways to participate and soak in the festive atmosphere.

Finally, we’ll wrap up with the Quad City Bank and Trust Riverfront Pops on August 16—a must-see musical extravaganza featuring the legendary sounds of Chicago and more. Grab your friends, pack a picnic, and get ready for a night of live music under the stars at beautiful LeClaire Park. With various seating options available, this is the perfect opportunity to enjoy great performances with your loved ones.

Join us for this exciting episode as we explore these fantastic events that showcase the spirit of the Quad Cities. Whether you're a local or just visiting, there’s something for everyone to enjoy this summer. Don’t forget to tune in, and as always, thank you for supporting "What's Happening QC"!
