The Sound Conservatory, which opened in Rock Island, IL in March 2022, offers a wide variety of services including music lessons, instrument sales and rental, piano restoration, and an in-house concert series.

Originally built in 1901 as the Illinois Theatre, the historic building has seen numerous transformations over the past century. It was serving as an annex for the YWCA until Andrzej Kozlowski converted it into the space that is now revitalizing the downtown area. Concerts are currently being held in the first-floor showroom, but the second floor may be converted into a larger 450-seat entertainment venue in the future.

Owner and Director Andrzej Kozlowski is an accomplished Juilliard-trained classical pianist. Listen to the conversation here about his reverence for the Polish pianists and composers Fryderyk Chopin and Ignacy Paderewski, his passion for historic renovation and restoration, and his belief in providing financially feasible musical training.

Upcoming performances include multi-Grammy award winning trumpeter John Daversa and jazz pianist Tal Cohen on Sat July 1, 2023, and classical pianist William Campbell on Sat July 22, 2023. Don’t miss the opportunity to hear Andrzej Kozlowski himself on Sun Aug 20, 2023, when he presents “Chopin and his Life.” The full performance schedule can be viewed here.

The Sound Conservatory is located at 1600 2nd Ave in Rock Island, IL.
