David Cyzak

Dr. David Cyzak (see-zak) brings a multifaceted background in classical performance, education, and arts leadership to his role as Music Director for WVIK’s 24-hour NPR Classical station. A classically trained oboist, bass-baritone, and composer, he previously served as a professor teaching oboe, music industry, and collegiate courses across Illinois, Iowa, and Tennessee. He is currently Principal Oboe with the Southeast Iowa Symphony (SEISO) and performs internationally with the innovative American Gothic Duo alongside flutist Rose Bishop. Beyond the stage, his career spans directing music industry programs, serving on nonprofit arts boards, representing musicians as a former AFM Director of Symphonic Services for Local 301, and maintaining a thriving teaching studio for musicians from grade school to senior citizens.

At WVIK, David synthesizes his pedagogical roots and performance expertise to curate dynamic programming, including hosting the weekly classical broadcast Crescendo at Noon with Dr. C. He is dedicated to spotlighting the local leaders who shape the region's arts community; his ultimate goal is to bring the world to the Quad Cities, and the Quad Cities to the world.
