The Quad Cities are offering free yard waste pickup beginning next month.

Bettendorf

No stickers are required from Monday, April 7th, to Friday, April 18th. The city asks residents to place yard waste in a paper bag at their pickup point on their regular pickup date. Yard waste in bags should not weigh more than 50 pounds. Do not place yard waste in regular waste carts, which could result in a fine. No loose tree debris will be picked up as well as dirt, sod or mulch if it's in the yard waste bag.

Any brush or tree debris under six inches in diameter can be tied and bundled into a maximum diameter of 18 inches, a maximum length of five feet and weighing less than 50 pounds for pickup. Any tree debris or brush greater than 6 inches in diameter shall not be included in the bundle and should be disposed of using a private hauler. Bettendorf city ordinance 4-3-1 prohibits using an open fire to burn leaves, grass, garbage, building materials and business waste. Do not blow leaves and grass clippings into the street.

Stickers can be purchased for $1.60 from Public Works facility, City Hall or at local grocery and hardware stores

Davenport

Davenport residents can place their yard waste in paper bags without a sticker from Monday, April 7th , to Friday April 18th. The city, from April to January, will pick up bundles of brush for free as long as they are under five feet and weigh no more than 50 pounds. Logs and limbs must be six inches in diameter or less.

Residents can also drop off yard waste at the city's compost facility, 2707 Railroad Street, during the no-sticker two-week period and have fees waived. The facility is open Monday through Friday from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and open weekends from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Outside of the two-week no sticker period, residents pay .50 cents per container or $6 per cubic yard.

Davenport City Code Chapter 8.14. prohibits blowing leaves and grass clippings into the street. Residents breaking the code could be fined. Do not burn leaves, grass, garbage, building materials and business waste.

Stickers can be purchased at the Public Works Center, City Hall or at local grocery and hardware stores. Each sticker costs $1.60.

Moline

Residents of Moline can start placing yard waste for free pickup on Monday, March 31st, until Friday, April 11th. The city asks residents to place yard waste paper bags at least three feet away from their regular waste bins. Brush and tree limbs two inches in diameter or less must be tied and bundled. No yard waste outside the bags or special yard waste carts will not be picked up.

Residents can request a yard waste bin for a one-time fee of $78.96 and an annual fee of $100. The carts must have the lid closed for pickup.

No rocks, concrete, flammable liquids, hazardous waste, or hot ash are allowed in the paper bags or yard waste carts.

Stickers are $2 and can be found at local grocery and hardware stores.

The city's leaf vacuuming program is only offered in the fall, so residents should avoid raking or blowing leaves into the streets. It would be considered a violation of city code.
