Update on 12/12/24: Muscatine Police say an air gun was used in the shooting Sunday, Dec. 8th, that led to a high-speed chase that ultimately killed the suspect and another driver.
The Quad City Times reports that 36-year-old Brittany Miles fired the realistic-looking weapon at residents while driving around town Sunday afternoon. No injuries were reported, but a Muscatine police officer later crashed his patrol car while pursuing Miles on the highway.
She died soon after in a head-on collision that also killed 27-year-old Olivia Marie Alvarez of Cedar Rapids.

Iowa State Police and the Muscatine Police Department are investigating after a woman shot at multiple residents on Sunday, Dec. 8th, and died later in a head-on collision.
The suspect reportedly fled from police after the shootings that did not result in injuries. One Muscatine Police officer lost control of his vehicle while in pursuit and crashed near Cedar River along Highway 218.
Outside law enforcement agencies continued chasing the vehicle until it collided with oncoming traffic in Washington County, resulting in the death of another driver as well.
