The Figge Art Museum names Melissa Mohr as its new CEO and Executive Director earlier this month. Melissa has worked for the Figge for over fifteen years in the education department and as Interim Executive Director.
She has also worked with other museum organizations, including the Iowa Museum Association, the Art Educators of Iowa, and the Iowa Arts Council. She plans to work with the Association of Midwest Museums in the future.
Mohr says that being the new CEO has been a great experience. “People have been so kind, there's been such a generosity of love that's come and support that's come from me and I'm really very grateful for that. As the Figge's executive director and CEO, I get to work with an amazing team of creative, passionate and hardworking staff, board and volunteer members, all of whom are eager to carry out the Figge’s mission.”
Mohr will continue the Figge's strategic plan, focusing on the Figge’s centennial year and upcoming celebratory exhibitions, including the light sculpture by Leo Villareal.
