In honor of breast cancer awareness month, UnityPoint Health Trinity is expanding mammogram screening hours throughout October.
Every Saturday in October, the Bettendorf and Moline Trinity will hold appointment-only mammograms from 7:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Moline Trinity will also host “walk-in Wednesdays” each week from 3:30-5.
Breast Health Imaging Coordinator Hannah Converse said the average age for a woman to get their first mammogram is age 40. However, Converse said breast cancer rates are increasing more rapidly in women under 50.

Converse said one in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. She said she encourages all women to attend Trinity’s clinic, even if they don’t have a family history of breast cancer.
“Nine times out of ten when women come in here, they had no symptoms. A lot of them don’t have a family history, and you can always be the first," Converse said. "So, it’s very important to be on top of your breast health. Breast cancer is the most common cancer in American women, except for skin cancers. Approximately 13% of the female population in the US will develop breast cancer in their lifetime."
Trinity also offers mammograms throughout the year. To schedule in the Quad Cities, residents can call (309) 779-5870; in Muscatine, residents can call (563) 264-9205.
