Common Chord hosts second annual QC Flavor Fest

Quad Cities residents will have the chance to get a taste of home-town flavors at the second annual QC Flavor Fest. The event is being presented by Common Chord, a local non-profit organization raising funds toward furthering the area’s music-education programs, which is where all proceeds will be headed.

The fundraiser offers itself as a partnership opportunity of sorts to businesses throughout the surrounding communities, welcoming collaboration and competition.

Common Chord’s director of strategic initiatives, Steve Ahrens, said the number of restaurants involved has since expanded, going up from fourteen to twenty.

“Folks are going to have a very full belly getting samples from a wide variety of restaurants and food purveyors. This year we’ve split into two categories: Sweet and Savory,” Ahrens said. “It’s a bit of a competition. They’re all competing for the coveted prize, the Golden Kazoo Award.”

Besides the flavorful food, there will be live music. Several members of existing bands in the region came together during summertime to form DMT, a Dave Matthews tribute band, and this upcoming performance of theirs is part of the handful of their firsts. Over sixty silent-auction items also will be available for the taking.

QC Flavor Fest takes place this Thursday evening, October 3rd, from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Redstone Building in downtown Davenport. Tickets are $40 and are available at commonchordqc.org.
