Current Muscatine Police Chief Anthony Kies, who has been in the position since March 2023, is set to be the city's interim administrator.
The Muscatine City Council is meeting tonight at 6 p.m. for a special session to discuss the next steps in the hiring process for a permanent city administrator. One step is contracting a hiring agency to oversee the process.
They will vote on a proposed contract for Kies at their August 15th meeting.
Kies has been at the Muscatine Police Department for the last 18 years.
Previous City Administrator Carol Webb resigned from her post last month to accept a similar position in Marshalltown, Iowa.
