Iowa Health and Human Services released a new Behavioral Health District set to go into effect on July 1st, 2025.

Iowa is showing off its new Behavioral Health District map after working with over 1,000 stakeholders to update the Department of Health and Human Services Behavioral Health Administrative Service Organizations.

The seven-district plan will go into effect on July 1st, 2025, and state residents can attend a virtual launch event on Zoom on Tuesday, August 6th, at noon.

The press release sent to WVIK states, "These new districts consider equitable resource distribution, minimizing service disruption, enhancing access to quality care, and addressing the specific needs of specific populations. The district map is a first step in building a new geographic foundation for an integrated and efficient behavioral health system that serves all Iowans."

Iowans interested in learning more and attending the virtual event can visit the Health and Human Services' website.
