The City of Dubuque hosts Art on the River Ceremony

On August 9th, the City of Dubuque will be hosting its annual Art on the River opening ceremony. It will take place on the patio of Grand River Center from 5 to 7 p.m.

The event starts with a social hour with live music by saxophonist Anthony Collins Jr. from 5 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. At 5:30, a welcome by Mayor Brad Cavanagh, a spoken work performance, and artist acknowledgments and awards. At 6, live performances by Adams Dance Connection, local DJ Enoc Sanchez, and 3D art-marking demonstrations.

The theme for this year's reception is “Culture and Conversation”. Eleven different sculptures were selected.

The sculptures were selected on an 18-point rubric scored by three art professors.

The reception is free to attend, with free food and entertainment. The sculptures will be at the venue for an entire year and are for sale.
