The day Breasia was reported missing, Dinkins was arrested for unrelated sex offender registration violations. Just days later, he was named as a person of interest in her disappearance.
In 2021, he was charged with first-degree murder and kidnapping after her body was found. At that time, he pleaded not guilty.
A Scott County judge and the Iowa Supreme Court granted Dinkins' request for a change of venue last year. So, the trial will be held in Linn County.
This Tuesday, jury selection is scheduled to begin. Both sides could give opening statements on Wednesday.
