Body Found in Mississippi River

Police are trying to figure out what happened to a man from West Chicago, whose body was found Sunday afternoon in the Mississippi River near Andalusia.

23 year old Jeremy Swiatek was reported missing Friday afternoon when he didn't show up for work in East Moline. He'd come to the Quad Cities to work at the Rock Island County Landfill for his employer, Weaver Consultants Group, from Naperville.

East Moline police say he was last seen leaving work on Thursday, then video surveillance in downtown Rock Island showed him leaving a bar early Friday and walking alone toward Schwiebert Park.

Foul play is not suspected, but the investigation continues. Anyone with information should call the East Moline Police Department.

EM Police Department Investigations Division at 309-752-1547
or Crime Stoppers at 309-762-9500, or utilize the Crime Stoppers P3 App.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
