East Moline Police are happy, but disappointed to find that drivers are obeying the law.
Wednesday the department organized a special enforcement detail, with a goal of ticketing anyone who passed a stopped school bus. The department partnered with troopers from the Illinois State Police to monitor seven bus routes in the East Moline School District. The officers and troopers patrolled the routes in a mix of marked and unmarked cars.
East Moline motorists, however, were paying attention to the stopped buses and the law, and no one was cited for any violations.
This is the second school bus traffic enforcement detail the East Moline Police Department has run this school year. It will do it again on random days as the school year continues.
