Starting next week, drivers will not be able to use the Rock Island viaduct on weeknights. The arsenal garrison says on Sunday night, a crew will begin repairing the bridge between Rock Island and Arsenal Island.

The viaduct will be closed Sundays through Thursdays from 8 pm until 5 am. Drivers may also have to take detours during the day and over weekends for intermittent closures.
The contractor, General Constructors, should complete the work by August 1st. The $1.2 million project includes removing the sidewalk, repairing a short wall, lighting, and installing a parapet to keep traffic on the road.
