Planned Parenthood Clinic in Bettendorf Closing

After 18 years, Planned Parenthood is closing its clinic in Bettendorf. Located on Tech Drive, Friday will be its final day.

Spokeswoman Becca Lee says after the Iowa legislature and governor eliminated state funding for her organization last spring, Planned Parenthood announced the closing of four clinics - Sioux City, Keokuk, and Burlington closed in June, while Bettendorf stayed open pending sale of the building.

"Since 1999, thousands of women in the Quad Cities have chosen Planned Parenthood because we offer a standard of care, of expert non-judgemental care, that's simply unmatched by other health providers."

Family planning services ended in June at all four clinics, but Bettendorf continued to offer abortion services until a buyer was found for the building.

Starting next week, Lee says the closest Planned Parenthood clinic to the Quad Cities will be in Iowa City.
