A steamboat company from Memphis, Tennessee has bought the former Isle of Capri riverboat casino in Bettendorf. In late June, the Isle of Capri moved from the boat to a new land-based casino.
And Wednesday, the American Queen Steamboat Company announced it bought the riverboat and will renovate it into a new cruise ship, called the American Duchess.
In a news release, American Queen President Ted Sykes says the company plans to add a third deck to the boat, and build suites for over 160 passengers.
The American Duchess would be the company's third river cruise boat. And, like the American Queen, could be used for Mississippi River cruises.
The American Queen Steamboat Company has yet to announce when the riverboat in Bettendorf will leave the Quad Cities.
