Body Found of Missing Woman

Illinois State Police

Three weeks after a woman from northern Illinois was reported missing, her body has been found. State police say the body of 62 year old Deborah Dewey, from Ladd, was discovered Monday in a shallow grave, in the yard of a home in the village of Standard in Putnam County.

Dewey was last seen on August 22nd in Spring Valley in Bureau County, then a week later her car was discovered, unlocked, at a truck stop along Interstate 80 in Morris.

Investigators have not said what led them to the home in Standard which is located 6 miles south of Spring Valley, and along State Highway 71, between the towns of Granville and Cedar Point.

Her death is considered a homicide. Anyone with information should call the Illinois State Police.
