Braking Traffik Merges With Family Resources

Two organizations are coming together to fight human trafficking in the Quad Cities. Last week, Davenport-based Family Resources announced a merger with Braking Traffik.

Family Resources will add Braking Traffik to its list of programs and services. That will allow them to hire more employees and expand services.

Cathy O'Keefe, director of Braking Traffik, says that includes educational training and helping survivors of human trafficking.

O'Keefe is now an employee of Family Resources, but remains in charge of Braking Traffik. The organization will keep its name and logo, and may be eligible for additional grants.

I am currently a senior at Augustana College, majoring in Multimedia Journalism and Mass Communication with a minor in Creative Writing. I serve as the General Manager for WAUG.fm, Augustana's online student radio station and have worked as an intern and DJ at Studstill Media Group. I report on local news for WVIK and am honored and excited to be a part of the news team. I hope to pursue a career in radio broadcasting and an eventual master's degree in English or Communications.
