Blues Fest to Return to the QC This Summer

Mississippi Valley Blues Society

After being canceled last year, an annual music festival will return to the Quad Cities this summer. This morning, the Mississippi Valley Blues Society announced it plans to hold the Blues Festival in July.

President Steve Heston says after 30 years, the Blues Society had to cancel the festival because of limited funding. Since then, the group has moved to a smaller office space to save money and held several fundraisers.

Heston says the Blues Society is now in a much "better financial" position.
He says it's been difficult to attract large corporate sponsors, and the group is still seeking private donations.

In order to hold the Blues Festival this year, Heston says the Blues Society will start a Go-Fund-Me campaign online. And, it'll reduce the size of the festival.

The festival will only use one stage this year.

Heston expects ticket prices to stay about the same as previous years. And, the Mississippi Valley Blues Festival will move back to LeClaire Park in Davenport, on July 1st and 2nd.
