Lear Named Moline Public Library Director

Credit Bryon Lear

The public library in Moline has new leadership. Last week, the library board appointed Bryon Lear as the new director.

Lear was promoted to interim director last fall, after Lee Ann Fisher retired in September. He has worked at the Moline Public Library for 22 years, and started as a page when he was in high school.
He says this year, the Moline Library board needs to develop a strategic plan for the next three to five years. And, he'll help the library adopt PrarieCat, an Illinois-based cataloging system.

Also, Lear says the Moline Public Library will hold its "Booked for the Night" fund-raiser this fall, which takes place every five years.

Before his promotion to Moline Public Library Director, Lear served as Circulation and Systems Coordinator, a library associate, and various other positions.
