After eight years, Davenport will have a new mayor. First-time candidate, Frank Klipsch, won with 67% of the votes last night, compared to the 33% given to Bill Gluba, who was seeking a fifth term in office.
The former CEO of the Scott County Family Y, Klipsch, celebrated the win at the Redstone Room in Davenport. He hopes to bring city officials and residents together, to reach decisions in a fair and transparent way.
Former mayor Gluba says he was actually "relieved" to find out he won't be serving another term, because of health reasons and the job's constant "pressure." But, he's proud to have been elected for 4 terms. And looking back, he has "no regrets."
Gluba plans to "slow down" and spend time with his grandchildren.
Klipsch takes office January 1.
