3M to Cut 1,500 Jobs
An international company with plants near the Quad Cities and throughout Iowa will cut 1,500 jobs worldwide. Today, 3M made the announcement as part of its quarterly earnings report.
The company, that makes products like Post-It Notes and ceramics, has three factories in Iowa, and a materials resource plant in Cordova, Illinois. 3M says the reductions will be focused on "structural overhead, largely in the US" and its slower growing markets. It did not specify which positions or facilities will be affected.
In the report, 3M also announced sales have declined over 5 percent from a year ago.
