First Ever Remodel of the iWireless Center

Energy efficient lighting and a beer garden with an outdoor patio- those are just a couple changes to the iWireless Center in Moline. Today, the Quad City Civic Center Authority Board gave a tour of the new additions.

Board member, Don Welvaert, says the renovation was funded by a $4 million grant from the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. And, this is the first major remodel of the 22-year-old facility.
Director Kevin Snodgrass says the renovations include new color-changing lighting in the conference center, and new LED lighting in the arena. The lighting uses about one-third of the power used by the old fixtures, and the savings should out-weight the cost in five years.

Snodgrass says the beer garden is the only new space added to the facility. It'll serve craft beer from Green Tree Brewery in LeClaire, and a variety of burgers, pasta, and healthy food options.

The iWireless Center also added more seating, a new box office, merchandise display area, and women's restroom.
