State Rep. Pat Verschoore Retiring

Pat Verschoore

A member of the Illinois General Assembly from the Quad Cities has decided not to run for re-election next year. Today, state representative Pat Verschoore of Milan announced his retirement.

The retired union plumber has represented the 72nd district for the past 12 years.

Verschoore says he wants to spend more time with his family, but promised to finish his current term which doesn't expire until next year.

As important achievements, he lists construction of the new riverfront campus in Moline of Western Illinois University, helping the ARC of the Quad Cities get funding for new small group homes, Metro LInk's new maintenance facility in Rock Island, and transportation projects such as the re-construction of John Deere Road in Moline.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
