New Hours for Business Mentoring in the QC

SCORE

A local group that offers business mentoring for free is trying to find more convenient office hours. Starting today, SCORE in the Quad Cities will have new office times and locations, with an emphasis on expanding into smaller nearby communities.

Spokesman John Wetzel says SCORE is a nation-wide non-profit resource, offering one-on-one business mentoring and training. The Quad Cities chapter has been around since the mid-1980s. And, 30 volunteer mentors conduct about 600 counseling sessions each year.

Wetzel says their number of clients has fallen slightly in recent years, but they've noticed more interest in surrounding areas.
To address the growing needs, SCORE is now accepting more counseling sessions by appointment, as well as office hours at the Clinton Area Chamber of Commerce and Geneseo Chamber of Commerce.

Wetzel says three years ago, SCORE's offices on both sides of the river merged into two new locations. And he hopes the new office hours will be less confusing for new clients.

The Quad Cities chapter of SCORE serves 7 counties in the area. The 360 chapters nation-wide are funded by 8-million-dollars from Congress and local donors.
