Attorneys and law enforcement officers are gathering this week to discuss the best practices in helping victims of sexual abuse, and other crimes. Yesterday, was the first day of the "Excellence in Victim Services" conference in Dubuque.
US Attorney for the Northern District of Iowa, Kevin Techau, says this is the 15th annual conference, for victim advocates in Iowa, Illinois, and Wisconsin.
And for three days, experts from the federal government and US Attorney offices talk about new trends in helping victims.
Speakers will focus on protecting victims of child exploitation, human trafficking, drug abuse, and other crimes.
The "Excellence in Victim Services" conference is sponsored by seven US Attorney's offices and the Iowa Organization for Victim Services. And, it ends tomorrow at the Grand River Center in Dubuque.
