A Rock Island man is dead after being shot by police last night. This afternoon, the Rock Island County Integrity Task Force released the name of 32 year old Darrin Langford.

The officer involved shooting in Rock Island occurred about 11 pm Thursday when police received several reports of shots fired near 12th Street and 10th Avenue.
After officers arrived, they began chasing the suspect on foot, who according to police, had a handgun. During a confrontation with the suspect, an officer shot him, and the man  died soon afterwards at a hospital.
The Integrity Task Force is in charge of the case, and says the Rock Island officer has been placed on administrative leave. He's 8 year veteran, Ryan Derudder.
