One of several watch parties for the first televised debate between the presidential candidates will be held at Saint Ambrose University. Prior to the party Monday night, the university will host a pre-debate forum.

The local chapter of the American Association of University Women and the Iowa League of Latin American Citizens will lead the forum. Chair of Saint Ambrose's department of political science, William Parsons, will talk about the history of debates and the influence of super PACS.

The pre-debate forum begins at 7 pm, in Ambrose Hall.

The debate watch party begins at 8 pm, with a Question and Answer session following, held in Ambrose Hall.

Other presidential debate watch parties Monday night will be hosted by Western Illinois University in the Quad Cities, Monmouth College, and the Rock Island County Republican Party at Happy Joe's Pizza in Moline.

Presidential candidates Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton will face off in their first debate, at Hofstra University in New York.
