Democratic Debate for Iowa's First Congressional District

Monica Vernon, Pat Murphy

Two congressional candidates will debate in Dubuque this week. Organized by the county's democratic party, Pat Murphy and Monica Vernon will debate at Loras College on Wednesday.

They are running in Iowa's first congressional district. Murphy represented Dubuque in the Iowa House and Vernon is mayor of Cedar Rapids.

R.R.S. Stewart, spokeswoman for the Dubuque County Democratic Party, says the group wants to get the word out about the congressional election.
The public can attend the debate between Murphy and Vernon in Loras College's Marie Graber Ballroom in Dubuque Wednesday at 6 pm.

The winner of the June 7th primary will challenge first term Republican Congressman Rod Blum in the November election.
