Hotle Running for State Rep.

Rock Island City Council

The race has become even more crowded for an open seat in the Illinois House from the Quad Cities. Monday Rock Island city council-woman and democrat Kate Hotle announced her candidacy for the 72nd District, now represented by democrat Pat Verschoore from Milan.

Verschoore decided earlier this year to retire when his term ends next year, and with Hotle, there are now four democrats in the race, and two republicans.

She's currently serving her first term on the Rock Island City Council from the 5th ward, and works as a government relations manager for Mediacom Communications.
And her priorities if elected would be economic growth, education, and restoring faith in Illinois state government.

When the primary is held next March, democrats will choose from Hotle, Jeff Jacobs, Mike Halpin, and Glen Evans. Republicans will decide between Brandi McGuire and Jordan Thoms.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
