Muscatine May Have Found New City Administrator

City of Muscatine

A woman from Colorado will likely be the next city administrator for Muscatine. Carol Webb, the Deputy Utilities Director for the city of Fort Collins, has accepted an offer subject to signing a contract, and formal approval by the Muscatine city council.

She would start her new job late next month (8/24).

With help from a consultant, Muscatine conducted a nationwide search, interviewed 14 applicants, and then three finalists. Last week, the three visited the city for additional interviews.

The other finalists were a city manager in Michigan and an assistant city manager from Minnesota. Muscatine residents were also invited to view video interviews with the three, and submit comments.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
