Gault New Moline Police Chief

City of Moline

Moline has chosen a new police chief. Tuesday night the city council approved a recommendation from the city administrator to hire Darren Gault, currently a captain for the East Moline Police Department.

Gault joined the East Moline department in 1998 and since then has held a variety of jobs, including patrol officer and detective sergeant, plus he was a member for several years of the QC Federal Gang Task Force.

He'll replace Robert Finney who's served as Interim Chief since late last year when John Hitchcock retired following his arrest for driving under the influence.

Gault's official starting date in Moline will be July 31st.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
