Fifteen years ago, the Catholic Diocese of Davenport paid victims $9 million to settle 37 claims of sexual abuse of children by priests.

Then this week, Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller announced all four of the state's dioceses have been asked to send him information about clergy sexual abuse.

The office also set up a special hotline and website for people to report abuse.

Spokesman Lynn Hicks says the Iowa Attorney General has already met with some survivors and the four bishops.

And, after studying the issue and how other states are dealing with sexual abuse by priests, Miller decided he needs more information.

Survivors' names will remain confidential.

The Iowa Attorny General also wants to avoid missing any cases.

The four dioceses have already agreed to make public their lists of "credibly accused priests."

The Davenport Diocese and Bishop Thomas Zinkula say they're cooperating with the Attorney General's request.

An email from the diocese says it has not received any reports of child sexual abuse by clergy or church personnel that occurred since 1988.
