The first court hearing in the Rock Island County courthouse demolition case will be held in Peoria Wednesday.

The county board's attorney filed the "notice of hearing" in Rock Island County late this afternoon.

A clerk says the hearing will be held Wednesday, March 6th at 2 pm  before 10th Circuit Judge Jodi Hoos to discuss the briefing schedule for the lawsuit.

In February, historic preservation groups filed a lawsuit and requested a temporary restraining order to prevent the courthouse from being torn down.

Currently, a contractor is removing asbestos from the 122-year-old building.
