It's Moving Day for Rock Island County Courts & Offices

Today and this weekend, employees and hired workers are moving all but one office out of the Rock Island County courthouse. On Monday (12/3), the county held a grand opening for the new annex to the criminal justice center.

County officials hope all the furniture, files, cabinets, desks, computers, and other equipment will be in place and ready for business next week (Monday, 12/10).

Security personnel and others are looking forward to working in a safer, more modern building.

Rock Island County borrowed $28 million to pay for the four courtrooms and offices in the 47,000-square-foot annex.

County Recorder Kelly Fisher's office will remain open in the 120-year-old courthouse for another week.

It's scheduled to move into the Rock Island County Administration building late next week (Thursday & Friday, 12/13-14).

Her employees have been busy preparing thousands and thousands of records for the move.
