A Davenport alderman has admitted lying to a federal grand jury last year. Tuesday 3rd ward alderman Bill Boom appeared in U.S. District Court in Davenport and pleaded guilty to making a false declaration before a grand jury.
He's scheduled to be sentenced August 24th and faces up to five years in prison. He declined to comment after the hearing.
Boom is serving his fifth term.
A plea agreement says Boom testified before a federal grand jury in July in connection with a meth-amphetamine investigation. Boom admits in the agreement that he lied when he said he didn't know a former housemate used meth and that he hadn't given money to Joseph Allen Terry, who is awaiting sentencing on federal drug charges.
