The resignation of city manager Thomas Thomas will be considered Monday night by the Rock Island city council. His resignation was announced on Friday, and if accepted, will take effect Tuesday .
Thomas came to the city from a similar position in Macon, Georgia five years ago.
A proposed severance agreement calls for him to be paid his current salary for six more months, including health insurance. Even though his resignation was announced on Friday, he signed the proposed severance agreement three days earlier - on September 13th.
In his letter to the mayor and council, Thomas says "it has been a unique honor to serve as Rock Island's city manager," and that "it is time for me to pursue other opportunities and interests."
