Hoping to get more Davenport residents involved in city affairs, a new job has been created. Thursday Mayor Frank Klipsch announced the hiring of Scott VanDeWoestyne to be the first Inclusion and Equity Administrator for Davenport.

His responsibilities will include promoting increased diversity among city staff, and working with various groups in the community.
VanDeWoestyne says he looks forward to working with city staff, the city council, churches, and community organizations.

Most recently he served as director of government affairs for the Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce, but he's also held positions with the Red Cross, John Lewis Coffee Shop, and Quad Citians Affirming Diversity.
He started his career as a police officer in Bettendorf.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
