Davenport State of the City

WVIK Staff

He may be the mayor of Davenport, but Frank Klipsch wants all of the Quad Cities to work together. That was the message Monday during his first State of the City Address to the Davenport Rotary club.

The mayor says we shouldn't think of this area as a group of separate and distinct cities.

He says that 930,000 people live within a 60-mile radius of the Quad Cities.

The mayor assured Davenport residents that the city is fixing and upgrading streets, sidewalks, water lines, and sewer lines.

There are $27 million committed to these projects next year.

Klipsch also wants to appoint a blue-ribbon panel to figure out what can be done to stop the outbreak of shots-fired incidents in Davenport. He says solving the problem will take more than just arresting a lot of people, but cooperation by many agencies in Davenport and the Quad Cities.
