A local city official is in trouble with the law. On Monday, a grand jury indicted Hillsdale Village Clerk Jane Lundquist of two counts of official misconduct. The 59 year-old is accused of not collecting fees totaling over $1,100.
Rock Island County Sheriff Gerry Bustos says last August, the Hillsdale Police Department seized Lundquist's computer to investigate accounting problems.
In September, a Rock Island County judge ordered the sheriff's department to investigate after Lundquist requested an injunction. That investigation included a professional, forensic audit.
State's Attorney John McGehee convened a grand jury yesterday and charged Lundquist. Official Misconduct is a felony. If convicted, she could face up to 5 years in prison.
Lundquist turned herself in yesterday afternoon and was released after posting $10,000 bond.
