Dubuque Launches Online Budget Tool

Dubuque now has a new way for residents to understand how the city pays its bills. The online "Open Budget" tool allows access to the city's financial records using charts, graphs, and images. Budget Director Jennifer Larson says the open budget website includes Dubuque's expenses for operations and capital improvement projects, plus operating revenue.

Dubuque officials set a five year goal to make the government more financially responsible.

Larson says people should be able to review and understand where their money is being spent.

Dubuque's open budget application cost $11,000 and includes data from 2007 through this year. It can be accessed at DollarsandCents.CityofDubuque.org.

Davenport has a similar online budget site.
