Thanks to help from the public, Bettendorf police have identified five suspects for a vandalism spree last weekend.
Captain Keith Kimball says on Sunday around 1 am, the department began receiving calls from residents about five, white, male teenagers throwing rocks and other items at cars. Police got a total of 13 to 14 reports of "criminal mischief." It started on Devil's Glen Road near the Devil's Glen Park entrance, then moving north to the Deerbrook subdivision.
After asking residents for help, Kimball says tips came in leading to the identification of three juveniles and two adults, who have not been charged yet. That's because detectives want to make sure they have an accurate account of the damage.
The Bettendorf police captain says the charges will probably be felonies because the cost will total more than 1,000 dollars.
