Gluba Returns to Work

WVIK Staff

Nearly two months after being hospitalized for an insect bite and other medical problems, Davenport Mayor Bill Gluba is returning to work this week. He joined a tour Tuesday of city projects, and will start a reduced schedule in city hall tomorrow Thursday.

In late July, he suffered a bad reaction to an insect bite and a drug he was given, and it was serious enough that he was airlifted to Iowa City and spent about 3 weeks in University Hospitals, mostly in intensive care.
A city hall spokesman says it may be some time before Gluba resumes his past work schedule of 60 to 70 hours per week.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
