Rock Island County Circuit Clerk Retiring

Lisa Bierman

A longtime department head for Rock Island County is leaving. Circuit Clerk Lisa Bierman will retire at the end of the month.

After working for 33 years in the office, including the last 16 as circuit clerk, she's decided to take advantage of the county's early retirement incentive offer to employees.

Bierman says she's been thinking about retirement for about 6 months.

No definite plans yet.

The circuit clerk's office has a staff of 40, and she's been working hard in recent weeks to replace other employees of the office who've decided to take early retirement.

On Thursday, the Rock Island County board's human resources committee will consider a resolution appointing the current chief deputy, Tammy Weikert, to be circuit clerk. If approved, it will go to the full county board on Tuesday.

A native of Detroit, Herb Trix began his radio career as a country-western disc jockey in Roswell, New Mexico (“KRSY, your superkicker in the Pecos Valley”), in 1978. After a stint at an oldies station in Topeka, Kansas (imagine getting paid to play “Louie Louie” and “Great Balls of Fire”), he wormed his way into news, first in Topeka, and then in Freeport Illinois.
